Those things are not lost. They are just not very present in normal people. Never have been. It's always a tiny minority who can think and act big. This is actually against our biology so no wonder...

This may all be true, it's worth thinking what the causal factors are. For example, one would be far more able to take on big risky long-term projects if they had the safety of $3M in a well-diversified portfolio, rather than a living paycheck to paycheck...

Give me funding and I’ll build you prototype deep sea mining robots to extract rare earth mineral nodes located on the bottom of the ocean. It’s really quite an interesting field.
