the crazy thing to me is that the DoD hadn't insisted on paying spacex for starlink service in ukraine in the first place very sure other defense contractors get paid much more for much less value the people who want to make elon out to be the bad guy here just want attention

It would need to go out for a bid. Defense contractors know how to play this game. Don’t worry about Elon. He knew what he was doing he just could stop talking. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So maybe it's not all for free?
Very interesting statement from @elonmusk re Ukrainian StarLink and how damaging it is for @SpaceX economics. Being Ukrainian actually in the topic of StarLinks, I want to tell you some based facts re starlinks in Ukraine. 🧵

Ukrainians are thankful to Elon for the Starlink. The outcry was about him retranslating russian propaganda talking points in his tweets

Any publicity is a good publicity. 📢

It was Musk that offered the Coverage in the first place ?

Cheaper to make him do it for free by threats against Tesla, and DOJ investigations against Musk. Faster too.

Idk man seems to me that the world's richest man can afford a couple of million a month or whatever

They paid for the terminals even though Musk volunteered. He needs to learn that his constant need for adulation has its costs, one he needs to pay.

As much as I dislike @elonmusk, you are right. @northropgrumman, @LockheedMartin, @generaldynamics, @Boeing - would require a CLIN before answering a phone call from the government. DoD is clearly the next industry that needs disruption. If only it wasn’t so corrupt.
