surprising trend: for years it felt like a substantial fraction of the most impressive tech founders were under 28 or so. in the past few years, very few of them are. what changed?

Lot of talent went into the crypto/ NFT/ web3 vanity projects/get rich quick schemes. Though they got richer, did not benefit humanity much.

FAANG started paying a lot of money. This meant 35 year olds were millionaires from a stable job. They could now take a wild swing at their dreams which were hard problems. @paulg makes the point that companies like @ModernTreasury can't be founded by a team of all 25yr olds.
