wiping out some student debt while allowing a broken system to keep piling it up is a pretty wild thing to watch, and such an admission of defeat. this does nothing at all to solve the problem.

do what other countries do--make university free but hard, and have minimal extra BS that makes it expensive. if not that, universities should underwrite their students' debt. if their graduates can't on average easily pay it back, it's at least mostly their fault.

We could also what Australia is now doing and offer free or reduced tuition for jobs with demonstrated shortages like nurses. I don’t know why we don’t measure university admissions with job openings…

Making universities underwrite their own student's debt is the best idea I've heard. How do we make this happen?

I agree that universities that charge tuition but don't get their students good jobs should be responsible for the debt

Someone needs to set prices. It *should be* relatively easy to peg a comp price on every degree at every university. (100% of annual salary for an average graduate of that school & program for ex) You want fed loan bucks? Your tuition must comply.

I love that second idea.

Not all student debt was taken out to pay for four-year residential humanities degrees. This fact seems to elude and mystify American elites. Trades and vocational schools are often free in social democratic countries.

University should be job-market oriented indeed! Optimize using #AI for income after graduation...

So much this. Spot on! The only earnings potential this aid increases is that of universities. :(

Love that idea. Make the University hold the note. I think we would see a true revolution in pricing and admissions

It doesn’t take much to ruin a reputation. It takes more than just a quality product to stay #1. Like I said, Beta vs. VHS. Let me help.
