i am still amazed how most startup investors are great at understanding that startups can grow exponentially but don’t understand that markets can too “the TAM is too small” has cost startup investors more money than any other often-repeated phrase i know of

This is a story of quite a few however, TAM gets bigger with time and vision plus founders pivot the business model which changes the TAM

Maybe the above has some geographical context. In India everything is in the future. TAM, Revenue and profit. However, I guess the toughest part is convincing oneself of exponential (vs. strong) TAM growth.

Small markets growing exponentially are tricky in their own right though. Sales tend to be much harder because a lot of customers are also new and don’t even necessarily know what they want/need.
