i don't get how people can do serious thinking without a quiet environment. i'm pretty happy in any quiet, calm office with natural or very good artificial light, but i struggle to think in loud spaces. i wonder how much people liking WFH is this without realizing it.

I schedule all my routine work and most of my meetings when at work. WFH is for deep work.

I spend the first 2 hours of my morning sitting on my porch before people start leaving their houses. Loudest sound are the waves on the beach 200 feet away.

Libraries are magic places to work from. Silence is mandatory

People think differently. Music inspires me sometimes. Other times quietness does.

So glad to hear this from leader in SV 馃檹馃徏馃檹馃徏 Push for open office space in SV for me been high stress factor, -vely impacting my productivity, reason I enjoy WFH mostly. But, also love times in office collaborating with team solving substantial problem/challenge, whiteboarding.

I dont get how some people find it so hard to understand WFH. We dont like going. We dont like offices. Its that simple.

I, and many others, absolutely realize it.

It's not just the noise, but the entire sensorium emitted by other people. If I sense a presence, I can't focus, at all. One day I will have an office in orbit so I can be as physically isolated from other people as possible.
