i don't get how people can do serious thinking without a quiet environment. i'm pretty happy in any quiet, calm office with natural or very good artificial light, but i struggle to think in loud spaces. i wonder how much people liking WFH is this without realizing it.

TBH, I'm pretty sure we all realize it and celebrate the lack of distraction pretty much constantly

I'm the complete opposite. I think best when there are lots of people chatting around me — and even live music. The Revolution Cafe was my perfect work spot before they closed.

Quiet environment is necessary. But sometimes it's not. Fun Fact. I do prefer to play video games without the volume. While some do better with the volume.

If it's in public space all I need is a headphone with my fav playlist. Though I do prefer to work quietly in my bedroom on my table.

For me, WFH is 100% about this. Whoever came up with open floor plans didn't consult with knowledge workers.

Listening to good music in headphones and feed off the energy of the room full of ppl getting stuff done helps motivate me while I work on my craft just like ppl do for gyms. I’m glad WeWork is an option for me, but the majority of ppl I know prefer the quiet. Happy for them.
