i don't get how people can do serious thinking without a quiet environment. i'm pretty happy in any quiet, calm office with natural or very good artificial light, but i struggle to think in loud spaces. i wonder how much people liking WFH is this without realizing it.

My ideal workplace is an office at a university. Could be the success of Bell Labs and Xerox Parc was the merger of a university setting and a profit motive.

It really is as simple as not having to commute. The office is a fine place to work, sometimes more productive, but the trip to get there is the real killer.

Depends on your upbringing if you grew up with eight brothers and sisters in a 60 meters apartment in a dense city in a dense neighbourhood. You will be fine with thinking in a loud env

100% same. My focus at home is much better than in an office. As a kid having to take a test in the teacher lounge made me have anxiety.
