AI is a rare example of an extremely hyped thing that almost everyone still underestimates the impact of in even the medium-term. what are other examples of this from the past couple of decades besides the iPhone? i'm curious what we can learn.

Because there will never be something like it again. I mean it is "creating intelligence without an upper limit". Hard to overestimate or underestimate this once-in-a-civilisation event. cc: @elonmusk @lexfridman @waitbutwhy @DeepMind @demishassabis @satyanadella @sundarpichai

AI has been around for more than a few decades. Its computing that has helped the hype in recent times. Data quality with equitable distribution is the hardest part. We still cant seem to converge on most ideas and running off on biased data seems like a terrible idea.

What AI can do in terms of creating art is already mind blowing! #discodiffusion and #dalle2 are really just infants! What happens when they grow up?
