Studies about “best paces” are usually based on data that don’t capture why people actually like or hate a place. There are pretty good reasons why almost all people would prefer to live in California (3d worst here) rather than S. Dakota (3d best)

It all goes to making it #3 in Quality of Life. The people prefer high housing prices, it's not high enough. It's the investor's ethic in them.

The better your life becomes the more you complain and the more you want. You ever hear people from Kentucky complain?

California is definitely not the 3rd worst state to live in lmfao. The deep south exists.

When a state is ranked “affordable” it usually means fewer people want to live there. California is routinely ranked worst state for business despite having the largest state economy by far. Maybe the rankings are suspect?
