right now there are many high-skill immigrants that are begging to come to the US and we don't let them some day we'll beg them to come and they won't want to this is an important-but-not-urgent policy disaster, and worse than it seems

High-skilled immigration is one of the lowest hanging fruits, and the US is massively fucking this up. We have an extremely talented engineer we've been trying to bring to the US for almost 8 months now without much luck.

One of the historical pillars for USA to be The supreme economic power used to be trained brains import and diversity import through many migratory stages. It did kept the entrepreneurial spirit and the influx of young demographics to push growth.

It’s and economic issue also, demographically USA is getting older and the influx of younger generations is not replacing in numbers the outflow of baby boomers, it’s a serious issue. One of the ways USA reached its 1st superpower status was immigration.
