right now there are many high-skill immigrants that are begging to come to the US and we don't let them some day we'll beg them to come and they won't want to this is an important-but-not-urgent policy disaster, and worse than it seems

Classic. Supply and demand usually are never equal

When immigrants thrive, America shines.

One of America's greatest strengths is that the best and brightest want to live here. If that stops being true, either b/c we don't let ppl in (or b/c they start choosing to live elsewhere due to politics, guns, etc.).... then we will lose a big part of what makes America great

Can we please take care of the immigrants already on H1B and green card limbo? This is an easy to make it controversial, low impact numbers wise political move and a big reason why no one wants to push new policy through. Very stressful and high impact for people stuck in limbo

💯 Right now there are many areas that desperately need high skilled talent and yet they won’t get work visas/permits due to an arbitrary cap. Makes zero sense. But wait, I went through the whole immigration system and yup, so much of it doesn’t make any sense 🤷🏽‍♂️

To be honest I’m not sure why they would to now…

@sama only look at the once in a lifetime opportunity to attract people to a relatively covid free environment... Australia missed in 2020 when it closed its borders to critical skills and is nowhere near recovering... tech industries suffer huge momentum loss

They are going to build the border wall between Mexico and the US not to keep people out but to keep people in. People are moving to places like Italy to remote work and can buy a 3,100 sq ft house for 36,000 Euros.
