right now there are many high-skill immigrants that are begging to come to the US and we don't let them some day we'll beg them to come and they won't want to this is an important-but-not-urgent policy disaster, and worse than it seems

The fact that Europe is not capitalizing more on this absolute shortsightedness is frustrating to say the least

There are roughly 330 mln people in US who could be potentially highly skilled workers. Why not train them locally?

@KamalaHarris @DouglasEmhoff did you read this Sam Altman tweet. High skilled immigrants will help power the exponential rate of innovation in America. American innovation in turn will help elevate GDP dramatically. #MLK

Agree - I would even take it a step further and suggest policy should relax for lower skill immigrants, like caregivers. Assisted Living communities across the country are in desperate need and it鈥檚 only going to get worse as the demographics shift.
It actually is urgent just not urgent _to politicians_

Agreed - this is an urgent soon to be disaster. We could absorb an extra 1 million people a year and it would grow our economy

@GoVanHack has helped 1800+ international developers relocate to Canada and Europe. Would love to do the same for the US. Such an easy win, hope you get it done soon!

All in favor of nice clean legally done immigration with skills. Still, what are we doing to fix middle and upper education and trade up skilling ?

It will probably resemble what happened with the UK. Fairly hard to immigrate there 5-7 years back and now they are doing everything they can to get people in

I don't get the second para. Why will 'merica ask for, let alone beg, skilled workers to come over there? Doesn't it have more than enough skilled workers as it is? Unless it's a very rare sector with professionals asking for exorbitant rates?
