right now there are many high-skill immigrants that are begging to come to the US and we don't let them some day we'll beg them to come and they won't want to this is an important-but-not-urgent policy disaster, and worse than it seems

Think many ppl value the cultural ecosystems they build and invest in over generations, and weigh the psychological benefits of maintaining them against the economic benefits of immigrating ppl from different cultures, who inevitably, often unintentionally change those ecosystems

Many are awaiting green cards for decades while already working here, and choosing to go to a country that grants them residency. Mainly Canada.

US needs both, high-skill immigrants & low-skill immigrants, who are begging to come here. US is lacking about 10M employees, which is hindering the rate of growth of the economy.

Low-skilled would-be immigrants would make a positive contribution, too.

The extreme left and extreme right hate legal immigrants, especially from India..... in that respect they seem to be united . The left looks upon as "white adjacent" & the right as "population replacement plan" 🙄

It is important to remember it is a disaster in both directions. Immigration systems in the West exclude lots of talented people from entering, but they also let in lots of low value workers and a small number of criminals who would be easy to filter out.

There around 800k high-skilled immigrants already here for more than a decade asking for permanent status and the US won't let them. Some day they will all leave.
