right now there are many high-skill immigrants that are begging to come to the US and we don't let them some day we'll beg them to come and they won't want to this is an important-but-not-urgent policy disaster, and worse than it seems

America is the land of opportunity. Everyone here traces to someone who came from someplace else to make a better world. My parents came from Ireland as farmers and made a good life for us as Americans. Welcome that skill and talent. They won't let you down.

Exactly, and nuts. Take 'em all, using whatever skill, quality, value-add criteria you want (ideally a broadly open filter), but take 'em, now, and forever.

Earning in dollars and spending in local currency isn’t a bad idea at all.

This is a terrible recruiting strategy. Better to have people who love freedom. Anyone can learn.

America prioritizes border disputes and illegal immigration over giving out GCs. I know a dozen others incl. myself who would have stayed back in the US without returning to India if it wasn't the case. India is super welcoming rn.

So what. We don't need to import more people, we need our current citizens to have more babies. Who we can train to be highly skilled in every needed discipline.
