right now there are many high-skill immigrants that are begging to come to the US and we don't let them some day we'll beg them to come and they won't want to this is an important-but-not-urgent policy disaster, and worse than it seems

Its already happened for me. I dont really want to permanent base in the US anymore. Split time maybe only for fundraising but at this pt, if the capital pipeline existed MANY places around the world offer better quality of life and value. That's my focus on building now

Plenty of high (ie noteworthily high skills) flit between home country and other countries in a border less way, calling shots.

The issue of not prioritizing skilled immig has been there for decades. Just that there are other credible options to US in the last 8-10 yrs. In my view, politicians don't care abt this bcos they can garner more support by blocking all immig than by supporting skilled immig

Fix the problem of letting everyone in and then move to a merit based system to allow exclusively high skilled workers. youtube.com/OwELHiCsUPk

To be fair, with remote work we now have growing numbers of high-skill workers from other countries making US salaries in much cheaper areas. Getting the best of both worlds
