right now there are many high-skill immigrants that are begging to come to the US and we don't let them some day we'll beg them to come and they won't want to this is an important-but-not-urgent policy disaster, and worse than it seems

Immigration for US is the one policy that can course correct the trajectory of world power shift over the next 30-50 years.

The USA if it was not for the immigrants would be still inhabited by the aborigines not by the European immigrants (ironically would be considered illegal by today's standard) And if it was not because of them there won't be electricity cars planes and nuclear bombs

Why they will not want to come some day?

Maybe we should make it easier to hire them remotely. The political immigration solutions have been thorny for many generations, and are unlikely to be resolved any time soon.

If we rolled out the red carpet for high-skill immigrants, would you support in turn a significant reduction in lower skill immigration, or enhanced immigration enforcement like mandatory e-Verify? In other words, would you actually make a deal to get more high skill immigrants?

The trend is already here. People ditching their US Citizenship & green cards in record numbers. Web3 & remote work is only to accelerate that. Before the old folks at the US gov realize the problem, it'll be too late The US is being drained of its high tax-paying IT workforce

Meanwhile long time residents/voters in Silicon Valley
"Are developers aware of spacious open land in Montana, Wyoming, North/South Dakota? Is there a reason they can't go there where they would be welcomed by the state and its residents with open arms?" I called every resident of those states and they said "f$&k off Californians"

It’s one of those classic “migration” problem that everyone knows is important and not fixing it will outdate the system, yet fixing it will take a whole lot of will power which nobody has! Sad to be part of such a mediocre system!
