i'm concerned about the political landscape in the USA. some elements of the republican party are becoming increasingly anti-democratic. the 2022 midterms could be an inflection point that leads to undermining elections in 2024. (or it could all be fine! but there's real risk.)

some friends (led by @AriX) and experts made a list of the most impactful-per-dollar races of the 2022 cycle. i just committed $250k and several friends are doing the same. please consider joining this effort and donating here; any amount helps! donate.oath.vote/page/2022mi…

You will admit the same sentiment exists on the democrat side, right? Maybe the money would be better spent on a third party? Seems like that would be the long term play for more success.

This is a great list and an even better effort to raise essential funds for great campaigns. I just hope you don't put too much weight in "cost per vote" metrics. There's a place for them, but some of our most important races (and target voters) are woefully inefficient.

Why donation for the election? Such a paradox in democracy, for politicians, it’s better to use stronger and more hopeful heart-driven messages instead of money to change what seems wrong.

It's incredibly disingenuous and should be illegal to back candidates in other states/districts. Those candidates are supposed to represent their constituency, not the interest of remote wealthy elites who have already f'd their own state. Stick with CA, it needs help.

I’d have thought the WI senate race would belong on this list

Is it tone deaf to complain about anti democratic actions and then spend $250,000 to push for candidates you like? Candidates in areas that don't even represent you? Who wants to manipulate the Arizona governor's race while living in California?

Go take that $250k and donate it to a food bank instead. It will do more good. shfb.org

Might want to look at the WI governorship, where the 2024 presidential race may will be decided (plus the Dem is the only thing holding a gerrymandered legislature from erasing basic rights). Dem (Barnes) also has a real shot at the Senate there.
WI's GOP gov candidates in a @WISN12News town hall: Would they sign legislation to decertify WI's 2020 elex? @michelsforgov: Everything on the table @RebeccaforReal: Not constitutionally possible, will abolish WEC @timothy_ramthun: "The nanosecond it hit my desk"

Confused if you want more of the same or want people who can make beneficial decisions running your country. Please confirm.

The fact that individuals can throw $250k at political causes while most Americans are struggling to put food on the table is exactly why democracy is at risk.
