Most nervous if they understand their strengths and work styles well enough to make the decision based on what will actually make their most effective rather than basing it on what they think looks to arbitrary outsiders like it should be most effective for all teams

Fully remote because no matter where they are, they can steal your best people right out from under you. At this level of play, you should give your people whatever they need to succeed whether that's an office or a home office, their individual needs matter.

Do higher expenses make them less able to compete with me? Are they hiring staff to make them come in or do they already have a crack staff going into the office?

A team that has mastered fully remote work will be unstoppable. Unfortunately, factory type synchronous and serial communication still dominates.

Location type doesn’t hit me. I’m only nervous if they actually know how to collaborate. Which I’ve found to be quite rare. Most people are freelancers under one roof. Silos passing docs around.

Maximum fear, it's your co-founder and you never signed non competing agreement.

Maximum fear if they are spread in the US, India & China, so they really work 24/7.
