i think in 100 years people will look back at 2022 and be even more astonished at how bad our quality of life was than we are looking back at people who lived 1000 years ago

I suspect it is roughly equally likely thst they think the opposite. We have had centuries of unbelievable progress but there are plenty of reasons to suspect that such consisten progress is unusual. And plenty of risks that could easily end it.

why 10x improvement? after Rome empire fell (western), much of Europe fell into dark-ages for ~500 yrs then slowly began a 350 yr climb (sci, tech, biz) a further 400 yrs got us vaccines, automaton, electric cars ... that's 100+ yrs ago. We'd need 2 major breakthroughs for 10x

what will be the tipping point for the quality of life to begin improving again, because I think an argument can be made that the quality of life has been on a decline since the late 90s. DALL·E 2 is rad btw, I'm having a blast with it

100 years we will all be in tubes feeding us all our lives whilst strapped in a VR existence with the biggest house and best standard of living one could imagine
