on a serious note, at least the first two cultural movements had some real positives. i fear that nihilism is going to poison a generation for no gain.

Once you realize everything is an illusion and most things are just BS, sans the mental fortitude, it's very easy to slide into a slippery slope of nihilism.

Nihilism usually creates a vauum of belief, which must be filled. A complete rejection of the prevailing ideology, offers a temporary blank slate, which can then be filled with new values, beliefs and meaning.

That'll be true if they blindly accept the reductionist take that only universally valued aims are of worth. One can move easily from "nothing has universal/true meaning/value" to "I still feel/believe these things" as a basis for simply _choosing_ to engage ones life, the world
