All other things equal, lower interest rates benefit debtors vs. creditors. Debtors are by definition less well off than creditors, reducing wealth disparity as a direct effect. Also lower cost of capital encourages risk taking, investment in new business expansion and new biz...

...starts which increases employment, generally benefiting workers and raising income levels, historically lifting incomes across the board. Also aiding rather than disadvantaging lower income workers.

It happens because central banks target inflation in a supply-driven deflationary time, when they should focus on reserves. The massive debt they鈥檙e fueling is mitigating (yes) inequality, but driving inefficiency. Significant rate hikes won鈥檛 happen & defaults will take long.

Having a countermeasure against the risk of deflation in case of a recession is highly valuable and way more important than lowering interest rates upfront to hit inflation targets.

Maybe we鈥檝e romanticized Interest as some universal truth. Usury was/is a thing. Negative rates signals to me that money is increasing worth less and trending towards becoming worthless. Needs to more thought, but I wonder if we could do away with Interest all together.
