I'm not so sure I'd have jumped to this situation but we'll see how it works out we're a constant transition but the world is much darker and the industry much much bigger and no hotspot focal points for Community to really evolve together in my opinion at least!

Right? So much better than the way the world is now so separatist and isolated and angry and cruel it wasn't like that then and there was hope and it doesn't mean that there isn't hope it just feels very far away.
In some ways I feel sad for web developers that came to the web after 2013. We had a lot of ridiculous technology and the web was mostly a sandbox and boy did we throw sand but we had a lot of optimism even after 9/11. It was a very different era but from 1993 onward it was epic.

I think you just did. Speaking of people who were put together quickly and ended up having a good run of good fun and great workshops Eric and I were smushed together by @jmspool rather genius on Jared's part. I met him in Pasadena when he and Nielsen sparred it was very strange!

It's really kind of hard to think of you being nervous considering how masterful you are at presentation now and you were always a natural. I didn't even realize you were nervous in the first place or I'd forgotten because we were so darn smooth. A great memory to revisit!

My apologies and love to the ever lovely Kelly of yours. The other Kelly is on Mercer Island these days but yeah Seattle you're across the water there I think if you're still in the place you moved to. Would that still be the SXSW or was it Comdex that would be especially awesome

I've wanted to revive it many times but there was no churn. If somebody wants to lead I can help but that grey hair on my chinny chin chin means far less involvement. Still I'd be down for some. We need standards for all the things these days such as ethics for web professionals.

No, thank you! It was such a natural thing how we just fell together and didn't miss a beat. Bill set us up ;-) I do remember walking around and seeing people sleeping on the floor of the convention center. Bill is now a Grandpa. Kelly Goto? We're in touch. can ask re SXSW photo.

Cool do you remember what year that South by Southwest was? I don't even know what we were talking about on that panel. I swear time just goes so much faster as you age and if you don't believe it folks just wait and see. We worked hard we played hard but boy it flew by so fast.

2003 was the last show and than it only had 40,000 attendees. It went bankrupt soon thereafter and was almost bought by Microsoft. I went to at least six or more of them and the one with 300,000 people was close to the end. Comdex had close to 200 shows in Vegas. Different world!

We winged the presentation FTW!. Comdex was huge, 300,00 folks filling half of Las Vegas. It was ancient times before social media, iPhones, MBPs, Android, "smart" tech, gmail, Chrome, it sounds so weird but it was a really optimistic Web then. Here we are later on a SXSW panel.

So Awesome @AaronGustafson moved the web standards project site and it's back up, but do remember it's as ancient as my back molar. Lots of historical value there for sure! Fact: Aaron and I first co-presented on CSS 2.0(?) last minute at what I believe was the final Comdex! (1).

I've got it now. there's quite a bit of content that could be confusing now and a lot has been removed. If it's mothballs it would be best to say so, remove contact links, possibly update history as it's way incomplete, move names to Emeritus? Let me know! Thanks so much aaron!馃

I'll be poking around and trying to see but it might be a wait a bit for a while kind of thing we'll see either way thank you my dear

It's not happening here :( I'm sure you are busy busy and unless there was an issue with DNS updating and it's a matter of just waiting just holler when you've wrangled it and I'll spread the word. Thanksya! /m

I stay for friends and communication not the social media platform much less one for profiteering off the backs of innocence and facilitating hatred and the noise of a world gone mad and stuck in this binary bullshit vitriolic Loop without an escape.
