Dear book writing friends - what is the one thing you wish you'd done when you set out to write your first book? Or the one thing you *did* do that worked so well you'd recommend it to someone taking their first steps along on this treacherous path?

True my point applies beyond tech books into any kind of writing. Have realistic expectations about an end result or better - no expectations. Just aim high and keep true. It sounds like you've got the discipline part down and that's the hardest part at least as I experience it!
