Good question. I use https everywhere and it seems to work mostly. I see a lot of performance slowdowns though but those could be coming from so many other things.
With 4 months to switch on HTTPS, are web hosting companies ready?

HTTPS is fast if you also use HTTP/2: troyhunt.com/i-wanna-go-fast…
Enabling HTTP/2 is dead easy with Nginx and HTTPS is a lot easier if you can use Let's Encrypt. But as ever some hosting companies know what they're doing, some don't so YMMV.

That's exactly my concern as well as others... People don't know what they're doing even in the industry much less consumers. It is absolutely a system design process problem. We are a messed up industry where brilliant people build and run it but don't iterate and repair broken.

Consumer education is really needed too. We see this helping at least a little bit with #NetNeutrality - when consumers recognized the impact on their lives, they take more interest and action it seems. Right now I trust no ISP to do anything in the interest of the many, #sadface
