Are there really people in this world who were protected by parents, never inappropriately touched by them or family much others? I have a hard time parsing the sexual bad behavior of apparently mostly men on women because that's not my story. Was your family safe and protective?

Yes it was. And my parents protect and support me to this day. As do most parents of everyone I know from India. The problem there can be of overprotectiveness (not my case). I never knew of the extent of dysfunction in families until I came to the US. It is very sad.
