Are there really people in this world who were protected by parents, never inappropriately touched by them or family much others? I have a hard time parsing the sexual bad behavior of apparently mostly men on women because that's not my story. Was your family safe and protective?

Probably too much sometimes to protect me, but they have to let me find stuff out somehow. It’s like letting a 6 year old ride a bike: to learn, they need to fall off to learn how to ride. It’s the same when adults drive a car.

Fair enough and true in a general parenting context. I'm not remotely talking about letting you fall of your bike to learn to ride it, however.

No but it’s how I read it. Thought it was a good example of protecting. Parents need to let kids learn and figure world out themselves - but falling off bikes is the safer option rather than being attacked by a stranger.
