My ex-employer is so traumatized by past evil acts of others they hired a lawyer to defend against ME when all I want is my W2s for SSDi/SSI

I don't know. I will say this - the lawyer answered his own phone. In my experience, not a sign of a powerhouse attorney ;-)

there a place nearby that offers free legal svcs? or maybe contact a local news station that has a 'watchdog' consumer reporter

I could rain a shit storm down on these people. I however do not choose that battle. The misery isn't worth it. I'm a happy person mostly :)

Misread you. I didn't hire a lawyer. Don't need one, nor do they unless no original W2s ASAP. The IRS, SSA, DOJ & DOL might. Not my problem.
