One of the goals of #HTML5 was to remove extension models by cracking open the #DOM for inline media and focused API's. What happened? #EME

I think we went too fast. We could have prevented this had we given a little more time to an #OpenSource codec that was a #Web standard.
I #resist this. We can do better. This is selling out the open web and it is also fragmenting accessibility, privacy and security.

You're not wrong. But #EME has often been described by the @w3c as a temporary solution. We all seem to not learn from history. 😧😢☹️
I know. I was caught in the middle of this maelstrom as I was working in the communications department for the W3C during a EFF/FSF protest.
