I do not like that elders in #webdev are undervalued. It's as if each year a new generation has to do the Web anew. It's very disrespectful.

maybe. I wasn't underpaid. I just didn't know how much my fellow (and I mean FELLOW) authors and speakers were *demanding* never thought to!

Agreed. Critical thinking x solid education in web tech might be a good start. Oh wait, we did that iteratively for 23 or so years #TakeTheL

We thought we were on to naming & real curriculum at one point with Web Standards Project and @CenterCentre but I cannot see results - Yet?

I can't seem to let it go. I had so much of my own identity wrapped up in those ideals, and have love in my heart for our industries people.

The answer is mentorship. Tons of us young devs are hungry for more experienced folks to come alongside us and show us the ropes.

I mentored for nearly 25 years. Someone want to pay me for my wisdom now? Nope. I'm not hirable due to medical disability. Life ain't roses.
