That's very true, and wise. And the suffering happens. We find the joy we can but sometimes it's a huge struggle through the depression.

I have been depressed my entire adult life, almost went insane at 24, & my depression just ended suddenly a month or so ago.

I've suffered from chronic depression. Being beaten so badly by my stepfather that I had to be put in the hospital and life makes life hard

Divorce, a violent ex-wife, and being diagnosed with Parkinson's were hard to take. And sometimes I was suicidal.

I noticed a lot of high IQ people like Rodney Dangerfield & Gloria Steinem suffered depression. I wonder if a high IQ is part of the problem

I think it's more prevalent in empathetic people - ones that internalize other sufferings beyond their own. IQ and madness often are joined.

At first thought, I'm not sure if higher IQ would lead to internalizing but, yes on depression because lack of peers to relate to.....
