look closer, this is nothing like the CSS modules (don't know if you thought of this). This is really cool stuff :)

You're not wrong at all :) It's not like modules in the least. Modules simply group like properties. They do not abstract a tree.

IMO this can bring BIG perf improvements by allowing shortcuts during relayout.
