Mainly I feel uncomfortable w/ Sheldon as "textbook Autistic" while writers deny it but still write him to harmful tropes

They've always denied it. "Sheldon is just Sheldon" - I understand why you'd feel that way. I find his depiction reassuring!

I think some of it for me is that I grew up watching the show. And I liked Sheldon a lot bc that was *me* (...)

Yes, and that's unfair to the origin of the character IMO. He was truly what made me feel better about my colorful plumage!
