Why does one infant dose (5mL) of Acetaminophen kill pain that 120mgs of oxycodone a DAY can't? I honestly would like to know. #pharmacology

Replying to @mholzschlag
When I broke my left femur in two places, the doctor prescribed an oxycodone for pain. I refused. Tylenol worked fine.

SO smart. I had past history and he was informed 21 years ago. Said "you said no opiates" I said "I'm in pain" - pad out, done.

Opioids are symbiotic with humans, we have specific receptors for them. This allows them to "trick" our brain. @WMichelleWho

Tylenol isn't in either class. It's actions are poorly understood. It is not directly anti-inflammatory. @WMichelleWho

You're not far off! Anti Inflammatories: Aspirin, NSAIDs, Corticosteroids, botanicals. Opioids modify perception of pain.
