Just me? Do ya feel that @facebook - with which I have had many concerns - has evolved a more dynamic and pleasant community than @twitter?

Online communities are rewarded to be un-pleasant. Shocking, emotionally moving, instigating, yes. But not pleasant.

"are rewarded" is passive. Who's rewarding? It should mean the community. If it's Facebook that's autocracy. This I worry about.

The architecture of the community system rewards varied engagement. She who reads-longest doesn't get more likes/shares.

Community is a tough thing to design well online. Currently incumbents are like Chamber meetings "Here, let me introduce..."
