Fireworks still set me on edge. After 45 yrs, I still fight Vietnam memories. Now that it is quiet, I can bring my pulse down.

The first time I saw that happen was 30 years ago. It's improved so much with time, but still. Horrific. Truly horrific. :(

In Costa Rica, firecrackers start before Xmas & end after new years. Except for Xmas eve & new years, they stop at 10pm.

Never here gunshots in celebration. Several people shot over drugs. One man shot in leg across the street over old phone.
