Help me out: Your family of origin causes a lot of suffering in your life. You work decades to make changes but they do not. What do you do?

I distance myself from said members in hopes that something changes w/them & focus on myself & my health. (I have done this)

Any tips? How do you protect yourself from emotional upheaval? I'm not good with compartmentalization. Distraction helps me more.

Through hard work, I simply just let things go I do not have control over. I immerse myself in work or self-care.

I think my acknowledgment of this issue over the holiday this week is a precursor to exactly that. Change is imminent. THANK you.

Any time... the holiday can be rough, but I find my strength through friends near and far such as yourself

Likewise - completely. I don't know what I'd do without this greater family of ours. Actually, I do know - I wouldn't be alive.
