Actually @chrisorourke there is nothing in the original or modern Hippocratic oath that explicitly states the patient is first in the sort.

The oath now is about subjugation of physician to the calling, not playing "at" god, compassion, disease prevention and such, @chrisorourke

"First do no harm" is not the Hippocratic oath. A popular quote, and while likely inspired by, is not part of the oath itself. @chrisorourke

What's interesting to me is that the patient is actually as or more duty-bound to the treatment relationship as any doctor is.

I only know this stuff because I've been a sick kitten for the majority of my life. I would have preferred not knowing it ;-)
