I loved the Web. I believed in us. I thought we'd lift humanity up. Instead, we've just made all our flaws louder and uglier. I'm exhausted.

You're being too harsh on yourself. I can unequivocally say that I've become a better person thanks to the web.

If not for the people Ive met through the web, I might never have opened my eyes to things like racism and sexism all around me

So, how do we deal with those issues without committing acts of career suicide or worse, career homicide which is status quo now.

I don't have a good answer for you, unfortunately. Like you said, there is a lot of mutual mistrust going around.

It's certainly let to a culture where I keep certain opinions to myself out of fear they may be considered offensive.
