the cost I impose on other effects those I care about the most. That’s a heavy guilt to carry. I can’t fix it for them.

All that is true - and that "cost" is taken on willingly by others is it not? You've been through so much change recently.

this is why we are working so hard to find care agencies etc to take on some of the burden. It’s the only way to make is work

Absolutely! My husband is a paraplegic - who was once a strong man who served in war. He also feels a burden to others :(

I suspect by now they are feeling trapped. They know as I do if they stop, it all goes horribly horribly wrong.
