I truly bought into the freedom ideals of the 1960s only to find with time the world had not. I bought into the ideals of the Web too. Ouch!

I haven't given up hope entirely, especially when I remember this is but one of many a dark passage in human history.

we've become selfish. As long as it doesn't affect us directly we don't care. I'm reminded of Niemoller's quote.

There is some kind of social disconnect, I agree. Selfish, I don't know. People move through the world as if no one else is there.
