We're all too quick to assume negativity and blame these days. We can have honest discussions without beat-downs, can't we? Maybe we can't.

Not altogether sure. Incivility is the norm.

It's understandable, though. If most folks with access to global information aren't traumatized to some extent I'd be surprised.
