Tough conversation with my daughter tonight about bullying -- something she has been the recipient of this year.

^ It was heartbreaking for me to hear her going through much of the same things that hurt me at her age too.

^ I explained some of the possible reasons that bullies do what they do. She cried when I told her sometimes it's because they're abused too

^ I learned that she stood up to the bully in her class who was picking on an overweight child & was targeted as a result. So proud of her.

^ I know the bullies choose her because she cares. Because her emotions are real and strong and they get feedback from that.

^ And I know, without a doubt, that she is a great person and the very traits that make her a target now will make her an awesome adult.

@chriseppstein it sounds like you can take heart from her strength. That she stood up for someone else that's a strong soul right there.
