Now that I've survived a death sentence, I'm helpfully going to be a pain in everyone's ass about BURNOUT. Why are we webfolks SO DRIVEN?

I mean that question quite literally. WHY are the Web professions so demanding of us? Or we of them? Is it fear of losing momentum perhaps?

@johnmcc Not sure that's really it. For me, service to the world is a good use of life. That doesn't mean to the exclusion of other uses. :)
@amyvdh Those are the clear reasons (at least to me). There's a deeper drive at work. Webfolk can burn out HARD, which is so destructive.
@johnmcc Oh that! I didn't even think of the machismo issues (not being particularly macho haha) But you are so right. That needs stopping.
@niorad I don't think so. I've been watching this industry from its inception. In fact, some of the quietest people are beyond super-driven.

@mholzschlag holy shit! I've been kind of quiet on the social media. Glad to see things are better since the last time I checked in on you!

@chaos46692 Hahaha, yeah, I've also undergone a bit of an identity shift, shedding my dotcom and turning into an org :)

@mholzschlag also - agree w/ driven thing. Personally don't have that problem cuz Netflix and bourbon are things that exist

@chaos46692 HA! Yup, that's so true. For me it's Netflix and #MMJ nowadays. No more alcohol for me. Well, until my 90th birthday at least.

@chaos46692 quite literally, I imagine. ;-) Liking what you're doing a lot - both as educator and awareness facilitator for gender equity!
