Is there the boss/client "WE MUST use Framework X" in the similar way to say, back in 2001 or so when it was all "Can you Ajaxify my site?"

@mollydotcom Yes, because clients believe using an “established” f/w will make it easier to find ppl for occasional/long-term maintenance.
