HTML5 is not markup. It is mashup. Remember DHTML? Same idea but somewhat evolved. DHTML: HTML+CSS+DOM+JS || HTML5: HTML+CSS+SET OF APIS+JS.

@mollydotcom Thats DHTML5, HTML5 is the markup, like always. The markup contains more "behavioral elements" out of the box though. /opinion

@ojrask Markup does not include behavior. HTML5 does. A behavioral element sounds stunningly more akin to an object than a mark.

@mollydotcom did not come to say "no, you're wrong", but I like to see HTML5 as an extension of sorts to HTML, not to DHTML.

@ojrask I do think that html5 is a completely separate entity than any other market. It's closer to DHTML in its makeup than it is to HTML.馃槉
