@ericlaw I never said chrome was enforcing censorship. I said it was blocking the Open Web. I stand by my statement and I have no influence.

@mollydotcom In your FB post, you say warning is "Google is [...] not allowing YOU to participate in what MIGHT BE illegal file sharing."
2
@ericlaw I realize my feelings are even stronger about this than I thought. Yes. I am questioning Google's motives. You are right.

@mollydotcom ...then I think your central argument should be usnews.com/news/articles/201…, rather than misrepresenting what Safe Browsing is.

I maintain my position @ericlaw and acknowledge fully that you and others are concerned that I am misrepresenting "safe browsing" #ThankYou

@mollydotcom I actually like the chrome safe browsing implementation. Too many outdated Wordpress sites get hacked without owners knowledge

@kenhowardpdx Safe browsing is fine. Open Web suggests it be a) less obtrusive than a full page block and b) OFF by default rather than on.

@mollydotcom @kenhowardpdx I'd be interested to hear/see suggestions for less obtrusive warnings that *still work*.
1
@nerdworldorder @kenhowardpdx To begin, maybe a safety switch icon created and conventionally placed in a browser's chrome and preferences?
2
@mollydotcom Users who type domain names into google's search box tend to ignore the browser chrome in general, other than the back button.
