So Material Design and MDL framework. Like: clean, easy. Dislike: inhibits design innovation. Bored to tears w MD on Android. Your thoughts?

@mollydotcom Great for Google products, but not for everyone. A design community conforming to a single set of guidelines sounds boring.

@_JamesRichards I tend to think it would be stultifying to work in one medium all the time. #materialdesign is, in a sense, a Web medium.

@mollydotcom Agreed. I also think encouraging us to adopt MD is very brave of Google and potentially damaging to their IP. 1/2

@_JamesRichards Google has long contributed to Open Source so I'm a bit unclear as to the IP issues, mentioned in the #materialdesign guide.

@_JamesRichards True, but IP issues shift in the context of Open Source and open technologies - which the MLD framework is built upon.

@mollydotcom #materialdesign is being baked into all of their services and products. So it's inevitably becoming associated to brand.
