Hoteliers, travel agents and folks in the know - why would a conference rate be MORE than the regular rack rate (no add'l amenities)? #wtf

@mollydotcom I've seen it when running corporate events, usually because cost of room hire for event rooms is being shared across delegates

@Geek_Manager Seems it's usually done the other way to me. Pay loads for the meeting space/amenities, get good deals on room blocks.

@mollydotcom Yeah, it's a way big companies distribute event costs to travel & expense budgets. Not normal for pay-for conferences usually.

@mollydotcom Usually internal budget politics. But sometimes hotels get it wrong way round if they do lots of those big co internal events
