Poll: As a Web designer, do you feel you should learn code? As a developer, do you feel you should understand UX/design/interaction design?

@mollydotcom as a designer, I've never felt like learning code. Only understanding how it works in delivering content. (I cannot code)

this is where the know the code argument breaks down for me @Bhooshan humans are different! critical point is communication.

@TinaHolmboe that's where the argument broke down I believe we should know what we can but rely on those with the skills to do what I can't

@mollydotcom coders/designers should be conversant in each other's domains - but they are specialties for a reason.

@mollydotcom Yes. But it's a crapton of work to handle presentation and other layers at the same time.

@mollydotcom Call me old-fashioned, but "Yes" to both questions. It make those folks more well-rounded and higher in-demand for jobs.

@mollydotcom Yes to all. The lines are more blurred than ever, and it's not going backwards. I worry I don't know enough of everything.

@mollydotcom I definitely think devs need a better grasp on UX. I know I am a better dev for having CSS skills.
